Porter’s Awareness Workshop 2012.

As part of KEEP’s Porter’s Welfare Programme from May 3-4, 2012 a second porter’s awareness workshop was successfully completed. For the first time rather than having porters from the Langtang Region and Tamang Trail come to Kathmandu, KEEP brought the workshop to them in Syabrubesi, Rasuwa District. The workshop was made possible by the support of the Swiss Foundation for Solidarity in Tourism (SST) and Intrepid Foundation (Australia). The theme for the 2 day workshop was; “Our Porter, Our Responsibility!” and its objectives were primarily to impart necessary knowledge on porters so improving their professionalism, livelihoods and promoting sustainable tourism. 75 porters from the region attended and the programme was headed by a number of experts in the field.
