Udhouli festival is celebrated by Kirat, Rai and Limbu ethnic groups during the harvest season which falls in the month of November/December, mainly to exhibit the gratefulness to the nature for the plentiful harvest and to receive the approval to harvest from the land. The literal definition of Udhouli is the migration of animals and birds from northern higher region down to warmer southern low lands.
